  For stabilising halogen-containing polymers compositions are provided which comprise (a) at least one alkyltin mercaptide having the general formula in which R1 is a C, to C12 straight or branched chain alkyl group, R is a C1 to C20 straight or branched chain alkyl or C2 to C20 alkenyl group, a is 1 or 2 and x is 1 or 2, (b) at least one zinc mercaptoester having the general formula in which R and x are as above defined, and (c) at least one basic alkali or alkaline earth metal compound, with or without (d) at least one alkyltin sulfide or oxide having the general formula in which W is oxygen or sulfur and R1 is as defined above. The compound (c) may be an oxide, hydroxide, sulfide, C2 to C, carboxylate, silicate, phosphate, borate or carbonate.
