Abstract A study is performed of the oxyethylation of alcohols. The rate constant of the oxyethylation of butyl cellosolve, calculated from that of the oxyethylation of n-butanol divided by the concentration of alcohol associations, coincides with the one determined experimentally. A structural transition in liquid methanol at 107.5°C is detected. A linear chain alcohol association consisting of n
A process for the production of alkoxyalkyl triorganic phosphates utilizing a continuous process for the manufacture of alkoxyalkyl alkoxides comprising treating an alkoxyalkanol with a sodium borohydride for 20 minutes to 4 hours reacting the treated alkoxyalkanol continuously with an alkali metal hydroxide to form an alkali metal alkoxide. A large excess of alcohol is employed. The alkoxide is phosphorylated to form a trialkoxyalkyl phosphate. The alkoxidation reaction and the phosphorylation reaction are both conducted in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The crude product is then refined by conventional means.

A process for producing a polyisocyanate containing an isocyanurate ring which comprises reacting at least one diisocyanate compound selected from the group consisting of alkylene diisocyanates, cycloalkylene diisocyanates and aralkylene diisocyanates with a cycloalkylene diol in the presence of an isocyanurating catalyst; and a resin composition for use in non-yellowing fast-drying urethane paints, comprising (A) the aforesaid polyisocyanate and (B) an acrylic polyol having a number average molecular weight of 2,000 to 30,000 and a hydroxyl value of 20 to 200.
