A new facile and efficient one-pot method for the synthesis of ethers by the reaction of alcohols with calcium peroxodisulfate under microwave irradiation is described.

A Cs2.5H0.5PW12O40-supported platinum catalyst (Pt/CsPW) could act as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for hydrodeoxygenation of various types of oxygen-containing compounds such as ketones, phenols, and ethers.
