  Neues Verfahren zur Herstellung teilfluorierter Alkohole der Formel (I), in welcher R und R¹ gleich oder verschieden sind und für einfach oder mehrfach durch Fluor substituiertes Alkyl, für einfach oder mehrfach durch Fluor substituiertes Cycloalkyl steht oder R und R¹ zusammen die Gruppe -(CF₂)n- darstellen, wobei n für 2, 3 oder 4 steht, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man a) Verbindungen der Formel (II), mit einem Alkohol der Formel (III), in Gegenwart einer Base zu Verbindungen der Formel (IV), umsetzt, und b) die Verbindungen der Formel (IV) , gegebenenfalls nach ihrer Isolierung, katalytisch mit Wasserstoff, entweder α) in Abwesenheit einer Base zu Verbindungen der Formel (I) hydriert, oder β) in Gegenwart einer Base zu Verbindungen der Formel (V), hydriert und die Verbindungen der Formel (V) gegebenenfalls nach ihrer Isolierung mit etherspaltenden Mittel in Verbindungen der Formel (I) überführt, sowie 2,2,3,3,4,4-Hexafluorcyclopentanol als neuer teilfluorierter Alkohol.
