Polyethylene glycol was found to be an inexpensive non-toxic and effective medium for one pot synthesis of high yields of decahydroacridine-1,8-diones in the presence of cericammoniumnitrate as the catalyst. Moreover, the solvent can be recovered and reused.
In this work, 1,1-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(tropinium)chloride is prepared, identified and used for the promotion of the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline and 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridine derivatives.
