    Resin foam products which are infusible and insoluble in usual solvents and resist ignition and burning in air are prepared from unsaturated imides such as 4,4'-methylenedianiline- bis-maleimide, unsaturated amic acids such as bis-maleamic acid and mixtures of unsaturated anhydrides such as maleic anhydride and poly(primary amines). The resin foams are made by heating to resin-forming- foaming temperature a reaction mixture containing such starting material, surfactant and blowing agent.

    Blends consisting of: (a) 50-90% by weight of a crystalline polyolefin, such as polyethylene or polypropylene, and (b) 50-10% by weight of glass fibers, characterized in that said blends contain from 0.5 to 5% by weight, with respect to the polyolefin, of a bis-maleamic acid coupling agent such as N.N'-hexamethylene- or N.N'- dodecamethylene- bis-maleamic acid. Glass fiber-reinforced polyolefins are also claimed.

    Glass fibres for the production of reinforced polymers, characterized in that said fibres have a coating comprising, besides a film forming agent of polyolefinic kind and a silane, also a bis-maleamic acid such as N.N'-hexamethylene-bis-maleamic acid, N.N'-dodecamethylene-bis-maleamic acid or N.N'-isophoron-bis-maleamic acid. The invention also concerns blends consisting of 50-90% by weight of a crystalline polyolefin (e,g, polypropylene) and 50-10%by weight of glass fibres coated as indicated above.

    A process for promoting the adhesion of polyolefins to metals, glass sheets, cement, asbestos or polar polymers (polyamides, polyesters, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, etc.), which consists in modifying the polyolefin by reaction with 0.01 % - 7% by weight of a compound selected from the group consisting of bis-maleamic acids, bis-fumaramic acids, alkyl esters of said acids in which the alkyl radical has from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and precursors of said acids or esters, and successively heating at temperature at which the polyolefin is applied to the support to be coated. The main applications concern the lining of pipes or other manufactured metal articles in order to protect them against chemical and atmospheric agents.
