  On treatment with dichloroaluminum phenoxide, 1-(trimethylsilyl)-methylcycloalkanecarbaldehydes undergo selective rearrangement of ring carbons to give the corresponding one-carbon enlarged 2-(trimethylsilyl)methylcycloalkanones in excellent yields.
