The connection of highly endothermic heterocycles with high nitrogen as well as oxygen content is a recent trend in the development of new energetic materials in order to increase densities and stabilities.
A novel approach for the synthesis of heterocyclic (triazole, furoxan, furazan) fused pyridazine di-N-oxides was described. The use of PIDA as a mild oxidant enabled the synthesis of these motifs in an efficient manner, which solved the issues of harsh conditions and cumbersome manipulation of existing methods. Moreover, the first synthesis of triazole fused pyridazine di-N-oxide provides a usable
