    Methods of controlling fluid loss in a subterranean formation comprising: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid and a fluid loss control additive comprising a water-soluble polymer having hydrophobic or hydrophilic modification; introducing the treatment fluid into an interval of a well bore, the well bore penetrating the subterranean formation; creating one or more perforations in the interval of the well bore, wherein the perforations extend from the well bore and into the subterranean formation; and allowing the treatment fluid to contact a portion of the subterranean formation through the one or more perforations. Methods of a reducing fluid loss from a perforated and/or gravel packed interval of a well bore using a fluid loss control additive comprising a water-soluble polymer having hydrophobic or hydrophilic modification.

    The present invention relates to methods useful during sand control operations and, more particularly, to using water-soluble relative permeability modifiers that are useful for controlling fluid loss during sand control operations. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of providing fluid loss control during sand control operations comprising introducing a fluid that comprises a water-soluble relative permeability modifier into a well bore; and stabilizing unconsolidated formation particulates in a section of a subterranean formation penetrated by the well bore. In other embodiments, the present invention provides methods of providing fluid loss control during sand control operations and methods of reducing fluid loss from carrier fluids used in sand control operations.

    Provided are methods of using fluid loss control additives that comprise a water-soluble polymer with hydrophobic or hydrophilic modification. In one embodiment, a method of providing at least some degree of fluid loss control during a subterranean treatment is provided. In an example of such a method, the method may comprise providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous liquid and a fluid loss control additive, the fluid loss control additive comprising a water-soluble polymer with hydrophobic or hydrophilic modification; and introducing the treatment fluid into a well bore that penetrates a subterranean formation, wherein there is at least a partial reduction in fluid loss into at least a portion of the subterranean formation from the treatment fluid and/or another aqueous fluid introduced into well bore subsequent to the treatment fluid.

    The present invention relates to spacer fluids used in subterranean operations and, more particularly, to spacer fluids that comprise water-soluble relative permeability modifiers and methods of using the spacer fluids in subterranean operations. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of displacing a first fluid from a well bore that comprises introducing the first fluid into the well bore; and displacing the first fluid with a spacer fluid, the spacer fluid comprising water, and a water-soluble relative permeability modifier comprising a hydrophobically modified polymer or a hydrophilically modified polymer. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a spacer fluid that comprises water, and a water-soluble relative permeability modifier comprising a hydrophobically modified polymer or a hydrophilically modified polymer.

    Methods and compositions including a method comprising: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a relative permeability modifier, and a chelating agent; introducing the treatment fluid into a well bore that penetrates a subterranean formation; and allowing at least a first portion of the treatment fluid to penetrate into a portion of the subterranean formation so as to substantially divert a second portion of the treatment fluid to another portion of the subterranean formation.
