A reaction product and an imide compound can be separated from a reaction mixture obtained by reacting a substrate in the presence of the imide compound having an imide unit represented by the following formula (1):

wherein X represents an oxygen atom, a hydroxyl group or an acyloxy group
by (A1) a solvent-crystallization step for crystallizing the imide compound with at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of a hydrocarbon, a chain ether and water, (A2) a cooling-crystallization step for crystallizing the reaction product by cooling, or (B) an extraction step for distributing the reaction product into a phase of a water-insoluble solvent and the imide compound into a phase of an aqueous solvent, respectively by using the aqueous solvent containing at least water and the water-insoluble solvent separable from the aqueous solvent. Further, the imide compound and the metal catalyst can be separated from a mixture containing the imide compound and the metal catalyst by (C) a solvent-crystallization step for crystallizing the imide compound by using a solvent for crystallization, (D) an absorption step for absorbing the metal catalyst by an absorption treatment, or (E) an extraction step for distributing the imide compound into a phase of a water-insoluble solvent and the metal catalyst into a phase of an aqueous solvent, respectively by using the aqueous solvent containing at least water and the water-insoluble solvent separable from the aqueous solvent.

An improved method of making a substituted pyrazolopyrimidine. The method comprises reacting a aminopyrazole compound or a salt thereof with a substituted 1-oxo-2-propenyl-arene(-heterocycle) or a salt thereof under acidic conditions in a reaction medium including a two-phase mixture of an aqueous solution and a water-immiscible organic liquid. Specific substituted pyrazolopyrimidines include N-[3-(3-cyanopyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-yl)phenyl]-N-ethylacetamide and N-methyl-N-(3-3-[2-thienylcarbonyl]-pyrazolo[1, 5-a]-pyrimidin-7-yl}phenyl)acetamide.

The application relates to a process for preparing a (meth)acrylic acid diester by reacting a (meth)acrylic acid anhydride with an epoxide in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a first and/or second catalyst in combination with a co-catalyst. The first catalyst is a halide of Mg or a trifluoromethanesulfonate of a rare earth element; the second catalyst is a Cr(lll) salt; and the co- catalyst is a tertiary amine, a quaternary ammonium salt, a tertiary phosphine or a quaternary phosphonium salt.
Disclosed is a process for preparing proteinaceous materials. The process comprises solubilising fibrous protein by contacting it with an alkaline solution, ageing the resulting mixture to form a homogenous solution, and coagulating the resulting solution to form the proteinaceous material. The proteinaceous materials may be produced as, for example, fibres, films, sheets, coatings, particles, shapes, foams or composites.
