The present invention relates to a novel class of nuclear receptor binding agents (NRBAs). The NRBAs are applicable for use in the prevention and/or treatment of a variety of diseases and conditions including prevention and treatment of cancers such as prostate and breast cancer, osteoporosis, hormone-related diseases, inflammatory diseases, oxidative stress related disorders such as Parkinson's and stroke, neurological disorders, ophthalamic disorders, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.

Iridium(III)‐catalyzed highly regiocontrolled C3/C8 amidation of isoquinolones and C6 amidation of 2‐pyridones has been successfully accomplished with various azides. The optimized method is operationally simple with a broad substrate scope. The protocol has been found to be scalable.
A general and efficient procedure for p-toluenesulfonic acid-catalyzed iodination of isoquinolin-1(2H)-ones with N-iodosuccinimide at room temperature is described. This method provides an alternative way of constructing C–I bonds, affords various 4-iodoisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones in moderate to good yields, and shows a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.
