We report the use of alkynylsilanes for the regiocontrolled synthesis of pyrazoles from functionalised sydnones. The strategies outlined herein allow a range of pyrazoles to be accessed with substitution patterns that are otherwise not directly obtained with high selectivity by alkyne cycloadditions.
