This work reports an intriguing finding that a newly designed anthracene/perylene/rhodamine system makes it possible to achieve efficient cascade energy transfer. The results of comparative spectroscopic studies on the protonated compounds provided a direct proof that the perylene dye can promote gap-filling functionality as an energy transmitter to enhance overall efficiency for the energy flow. Synthesis of lipophilic bisanthracene fluorophores: versatile building blocks toward the synthesis of new light-harvesting dendrimers
9-anthrylboronic acid with a substituted dibromobenzene. In addition to desirable fluorescent properties, these molecular systems were demonstrated to serve as versatile buildingblocks toward the synthesis of two types of new light-harvesting dendrimers due to their chemical stability.
