The fragmentation reaction of the optically pure 2-aryl-3-alkylcyclopropylcarbinyl radicals 1 proceeded selectively to generate a benzyl radical and produce the optically pure 4-aryl-3-alkyl-1-butenes 2, which can serve as synthetically useful chiral building blocks.
