An efficient protocol for the ligand-free and heterogeneous Pd/C-catalyzed one-pot, three-componentsynthesis of aryl-substituted benzimidazoles from benzyl alcohols by using water as the solvent was developed. The reaction involves hydrogen-transfer and Suzuki reactions. This method is quite convenient and environmentally friendly.
Microwave-mediated synthesis and antibacterial activity of some novel 2-(substituted biphenyl) benzimidazoles via Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction and their N-substituted derivatives
A series of some novel 2‐(substitutedbiphenyl) benzimidazoles and their N‐substituted derivatives were synthesized via microwave‐mediated Suzuki‐Miyaura coupling of 2‐(4‐iodophenyl)‐1H‐benzimidazole or 2‐(4‐iodophenyl)‐6‐amino‐1H‐benzimidazole and arylboronic acids. The method reported herein offers advantageous shorter reaction times, higher yields and is applicable to a large set of substrates.
