Three molecular switches containing a fluorene ring were designed and synthesized. The introduction of the amino group substituted fluorene ring resulted in the target molecular switches having some optical properties in the near-infrared region. It was demonstrated that the N-substituents on the fluorene rings and the switch units both had great influence on the molecular switch optical properties
Detailed electrochromic properties including the microkineticswitchingbehaviour of 2-nitro- (P1) and 2,8-dinitro-5a-[2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethylene]-6,6-dimethyl-5a,6-dihydro-12H-indolo[2,1-b][1,3]benzooxazine (P2) were investigated in both solution and indium tin oxide (ITO) devices with a dual-wavelength time-dependent spectra monitoring method for the first time. These two oxazinederivatives displayed

A fluorescentmolecularswitch (SP-OX-HBT), designed by fusing spiropyran with 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole (HBT), exhibited red, orange and dark emission color switching among four states in the solution and solid states. The transformation from merocyanine (SP-OX-HBT) to ring-closed spiropyran (SP-HBT-C) or deprotonated ring-closed spiropyran (SP-HBT-CN) could be controlled by visible light or
