  Tripenylstannylcopper(I) species add to acetylene; the produces ()-β-triphenylstannyl-vinylcoper(I) intermediates smoothly react with carbon electrophiles. The method has been applied to the preparation of the cis-isomer of the presumed sex attractant of Acanthoscelides obtectus.
