We report the synthesis of a new family of chelating ligands containing bispyrazole structure. Some of them undergo an unusual reactivity when they react with methyl iminodiacetate. We propose a tentative mechanism that probably involves 4-chloromethylpyrazoles and the corresponding alcohols as reaction intermediates.
