When comparative study of N versus O alkylation of ambident 5,7‐disubstituted 7H‐pyrrolo[2,3‐d]pyrimidin‐4(3H)‐ones 2 was carried out under liquid–liquid PTC, solid–liquid PTC, and solid–liquid solvent free conditions using various alkylating agents 3, the N‐alkylated product 4 were obtained selectively and exclusively.
