The total synthesis of soraphen A, a myxobacterial metabolite and inhibitor of acetyl CoA carboxylase, was completed in 11 steps (longestlinearsequence), less than half the steps previously required. Seven metal-catalyzed processes were deployed to unlock step-economy (comprising five asymmetric processes and four C–C bond formations). The present route does not utilize chiral auxiliaries, and four

The ruthenium(II)‐catalyzedC−Hfunctionalization of (hetero)aryl azomethine imines with allylic acetals is described. The initial formation of allylidene(methyl)oxoniums from allylic acetals could trigger C(sp2)−H allylation, and subsequent endo‐type [3+2] dipolar cycloaddition of polar azomethine fragments to deliver valuable indenopyrazolopyrazolones. The utility of this method is showcased by the

Polyaddition of p-xylylene glycol to 1,4-bis(allenyloxy)xylene was examined. Hydroxy groups of the diol added to the internal double bonds of allenyloxy moieties of bis(alkoxyallene) selectively to afford polymers containing both vinyl groups in the side chain and acetal skeleton in the main chain. The obtained polymer was degradable by the reaction of acetal skeleton in the backbone with aqueous acid
