2,3,5,6-Unsubstituted 1,4-phosphasilacyclohexa-2,5-dienes bearing a functional group on the silicon atom were synthesized via the corresponding stannacycle. The structures of newly synthesized silacyclic compounds were determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis.
silabenzenyl anion, which is a silicon analogue of phenyl anion, reductive dearylation of bulky aryl-substituted silabenzene was investigated. However, unlike the corresponding germanium and tin systems, the dearylation reaction did not proceed. Computational studies revealed that the reactivity of the dianionic intermediates differs greatly between the silicon and germanium cases.
