Photoactivatable phosphines that induce intracellular reductive stress are reported. The design of these probes takes advantage of the conjugate addition of trialkylphosphines to carbocyanine dyes, which can be reverted photochemically to produce the trialkylphosphine and a fluorescent reporter. The photochemical release depends on the efficiency of photoinduced electron transfer from the indolenine arm of
A new ratiometric fluorescent cyanide probe was developed based on the nucleophilic attack of CNâ toward the indolium group of a hybrid coumarinâhemicyanine dye, by which high selectivity as well as large emission shift could be achieved.
Cyanine dyes with indoliumâcoumarin linkages exhibit selective fluorescence enhancement for cyanide anions (CNâ) via the nucleophilic interaction of CNâ with their indolium carbon atoms. This facilitates rapid (detection time: 1 min) and sensitive (detection limit: 0.4 μM) sensing of CNâ in aqueous media.
