Le tampon de prélèvement d'ADN est, en particulier, recouvert d'une solution colorée comprenant EDTA, Tris, SDS et peyonine afin d'isoler exclusivement des kératines lorsqu'elles sont fixées sur la peau humaine puis détachées. En outre, le tampon de prélèvement d'ADN spécifique permet de séparer efficacement des ADN afin d'amplifier des gènes au moyen d'une technique PCR.
