polyazamacrocyclic compounds is described. This expands existing Richman-Atkins sulfonamide macrocyclization methodology, and it successfully enables preparation of labile polyaza[n](1,4)naphthalenophanes and polyaza[n](9,10)anthracenophanes, not previously available in appreciable quantities.
