The base catalyzed addition of hydroperoxides to vinyl sulfonic phenyl ester and methyl ester results in β-alkylperoxyethane sulfonic ester. The thermal decomposition of the latter, based on β-cumylperoxyethane sulfonic phenyl ester, proceeds by an ionic mechanism. Sodium peroxide and vinylsulfonic phenyl ester yield bis (β-phenoxy sulfonyl ethyl)peroxide. Some other additions described in the literature
