N-Alkylated 2,3,3-trimethylindolenines and 2-methylbenzothiazoles. Potential lead compounds in the fight against Saccharomyces cerevisiae infections
摘要:
The synthesis of a variety of N-alkylated 2,3,3-trimethylindolenines and 2-methylbenzothiazoles is reported herein. Their potential as antifungal agents is evaluated by preliminary screening against Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae), Schizosaccharomyces pombe (S. pombe), and Candida albicans (C albicans). Statistical analyses illustrate a strong relationship between chain length and growth inhibition for S. cerevisiae and S. pombe (p < 0.0001 in every case).Of particular interest is the activity of both sets of compounds against S. cerevisiae, as this is emerging as an opportunistic pathogen, especially in immunosuppressed and immunocompromised patients. Bioassays were set up to compare the efficacy of our range of N-alkylated compounds against classic antifungal agents; Amphotericin B and Thiabendazole. (C) 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. The synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of some representative N-alkyl-substituted quaternaryammoniumsalts derived from benzothiazole, benzoxazole, benzo-selenazole, indole and quinoline are described. These heterocyclic salts, bearing an activated methyl group in the 2-position in relation to the nitrogen atom and N-methyl, -pentyl, -hexyl and -decyl chains, are typical precursors of cyanine
the H2S sensing behavior. Investigation of the structure–property relationship of merocyanine dyes is of great importance for the development of ideal sensors with desirable performance. In this work, a series of coumarin/merocyanine (CMC) hybrid fluorescent probes with different lipophilicities have been developed. By altering the N-alkyl chain, the reaction rate with H2S and intracellular distribution

To provide a two-photon absorption dye-containing material having a great off-resonant two-photon absorption cross section and comprising a two-photon absorption dye capable of decoloring itself through off-resonant two-photon absorption, useful for a three-dimensional refractive index or absorption index modulation material, a three-dimensional optical recording medium, three-dimensional refractive index modulation method and recording and reproducing method for a three-dimensional optical recording medium a two-photon absorption dye-containing material comprising at least a two-photon absorption dye capable of decoloring itself through two-photon absorption.

newly synthesized compounds proved to be substrates of the Escherichia coli efflux pump AcrB, thus affecting the activity. Their structure–activity relationships were summarized in detail. The most potent compound 10f quickly eliminated bacteria in a bactericidal mode, with low susceptibility to induce bacterial resistance. Further mechanistic studies with the BsFtsZ protein revealed that 10f functioned
methods, photoacoustic (PA) imaging and photothermal therapy (PTT) have attracted extensive attention. Herein, two new acceptor–donor–acceptor near-infrared organic phenazine-cyanine dyes PH-1 and PH-2 were reported for photoacoustic imaging-guided photodynamic therapy. In the strong donor phenazine molecule, the electron-withdrawing indole salt unit was introduced for absorption to the near-infrared region
