The efficient synthesis of indolo[2,3-alpha]quinolizin-4-ones 2 is described in two steps via formal [3 + 3] cycloaddition reaction of alpha-sulfonyl tryptaminylacetamide 4 with various alpha, beta-unsaturated esters 5 and the regioselective reduction of the resulting glutarimides 3 with sodium borohydride then sequent further dehydrated cyclization in the presence of boron trifluoride etherate. The useful building block is applied to synthesize deplancheine (1a) and yohimbane (1b). (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

We have developed a new series of immunosuppressant with improved pharmacokinetic properties as the second-generation of colchicine analogs, which were designed based on the privileged structure derived from our previous work. In particular, we identified an analog (14), which exhibited a potent in vitro activity (IC50: 5 nM) in MLR and excellent in vivo efficacy in the Zymosan A-induced arthritis model, in the Carrageenan-induced edema model and in the local lymph node assay (LLNA). Analog 14 also revealed a good oral bioavailability (F: 67.3%) in BALB/c mice. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Described herein are polymer compositions useful as a semiconductive layer suitable for cables. The polymer compositions include (a) a heterophasic copolymer of propylene, (b) a polar copolymer having a polar comonomer having polar groups, (c) a solid conductive filler, and optionally (d) a polyolefin functionalised with a mono- or polycarboxylic acid compound or a derivative of a mono- or polycarboxylic acid compound, wherein said compostion is not crosslinked by the addition of a crosslinking agent. Also described herein is a process for producing the polymer compositions as well as the use of the compositions thereof.
A process of whitening a tooth provided by the invention includes the steps of providing a delivery device for mechanical dispensing of a predetermined amount of a whitening composition to an applicator tip; dispensing the amount of whitening composition to the applicator tip; applying the amount of whitening composition disposed on the applicator tip to the tooth to be whitened; and allowing the whitening composition to remain in contact with the tooth for a period of time sufficient to whiten the tooth. Optionally, the process further includes the step of exposing the whitening composition to light. A gum or candy for tooth bleaching is detailed along with methods of use. A device adapted to dispense an amount of a dental whitening composition optionally includes a light source for activating the whitener.
