X-ray diffraction methods have been used to elucidate the molecular structures of the platinum(II) complexes. Interactions with the model protein lysozyme have been evaluated by different techniques including UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence and X-ray crystallography.

  been prepared. By use of so-called ion-pair extraction technique a general method has been found for the preparation of β-hydroxydithiocinnamic esters in high yields. From these esters both symmetrical and unsymmetrical ketene mercaptals have been synthesized, and in some cases thio-Claisen rearrangement and subsequent ring-closure reactions have been observed.

  The 3-oxodithioesters 1 and 3-oxothioamides 6 are shown to undergo base catalyzed S-alkylation with methyl 4-bromocrotonate followed by intramolecular condensation to give the corresponding methyl 3-(3,4-disubstituted 5-alkylthio/amino-2-thienyl) propenoates 5 and 7 in good yields.
