Successive conversion of N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-toluenesulphonamide (Ib) to respective dimethanesulphonate and difluoro derivatives (IIa, IIIa, and IIIc) was found to provide a convenient route to N-bis(2-fluoroethyl)amine.
