Novel histidine-based complexing surfactants, designed as AA-His-EOm-Cn, containing trifunctional moduli (peptidic/hydrophilic/hydrophobic) were synthesized by a modular step-by-step procedure, which allowed easy structural changes, and consequently correlations between their molecular structures and their self-assembling properties could be established.
