Disclosed are branched PEG molecules, including branched PEG-lipids and branched-PEG proteins, as well as related compositions and methods for making branched PEG molecules. Also disclosed are related compositions, systems, and methods for in vivo delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic agents.
The present invention concerns functionalized photoreactive compounds of formula (I), that are particularly useful in materials for the alignment of liquid crystals. Due to the adjunction of an electron withdrawing group to specific molecular systems bearing an unsaturation directly attached to two unsaturated ring systems, exceptionally high photosensitivities, excellent alignment properties as well as good mechanical robustness could be achieved in materials comprising said functionalized photoreactive compounds of the invention.
Polymeric dyes that comprise (a) segments that render the dyes soluble or dispersible in hydrocarbon solvents and (b) segments that impart color. The polymeric dyes can be introduced into hydrocarbon solvents or formed in hydrocarbon solvents to form stable colored dispersions, which can be used as toners for electrophotography. In these toners, the polymeric dye contains macromeric moieties that render the polymeric dye dispersible in hydrocarbon solvents. The polymeric dye may contain either a charge-directing chelating moiety or a surface-release promoting moiety or both of these moieties.

An object of the present invention is to provide an external preparation for the skin, which shows an excellent effect of sufficiently protecting the living body against irritants that exist in the external environments, and a polymer material to be preferably used therein.
Provided is an external preparation for the skin obtained mixing a copolymer which comprises constituent units derived from monomers of the general formula (I), (II) and, if necessary, (IV) with the content of units (I) ranging from 5 to 25 wt % based on the total amount of all the constituent units, preferably with the contents of units (I), (II) and (IV) being 5 to 9.8 wt %, 30.2 to 45 wt %, and 50 to 60 wt %respectively, with other optional components. In the formula, R1 is H or C1-3 alkyl; R2 is C5-12 alkyl having 8 to 21 fluorine atoms; R3 is H or C1-3 alkyl; R4 is optionally hydroxylated C2-4 alkylene; R5 is H, a C1-20 aromatic group, a C1-20 aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or C1-20 acyl; and n is 4 to 50.
