The present invention provides a process for preparation of 4,4,4- trifluorobut-2-en-1-ol from alkyl 4,4,4-trifluorobut-2-enoate and also provides one step process for preparation of alkyl 4,4,4-trifluorobut-2-enoate from corresponding hydroxy derivative using mild and easily available reagents.

Trifluoromethylated pyrrolidines have been synthesized viacatalytic asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with excellent stereoselectivity for the first time. Epimerization of the endo-pyrrolidines obtained from cis-4,4,4-trifluorocrotonate into the exo-pyrrolidines was also revealed.
This paper describes a synthesis of 3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrrole from t-butyl (E)-4,4,4-trifluorobutenoate and tosylmethylisocyanide via decarboxylation in 45% yield of 4-(lrifluoromethyl) pyrrole-3-carboxylicacid over barium-promoted copper chromite in quinoline.
