  New 7-substituted fluoro-2β-acetyl-2α,4α,5,12-­tetrahydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6,11-naphthacenediones having the general formula I: where X is a hydrogen atom, or a hydroxyl group, R and R₁, which cannot be equal, are a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; R₂ can be hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group or an alkoxy group. These fluoro-naphthacene­diones can be useful for obtaining new derivatives which show a different reactivity of the 2α hydroxyl, in particular new anthracyclines.
