The FLP-mesityl azide addition products 5, formed by FLP-addition to the terminal azide nitrogen atom, undergo N-N bond cleavage in an unusual variant of the Staudinger reaction upon thermolysis or photolysis to give an internally borane stabilized [P]=NH phosphinimine and a dimethylindazole derivative.

Eight, not six: The intramolecular frustrated Lewis pair 1 reacts with conjugated enynes and diynes by 1,4‐addition to yield the corresponding eight‐membered cyclic allenes 2 and cumulenes 3, respectively. The thermodynamically more favorable 1,2‐addition (formation of six‐membered‐ring products) is not observed, which indicates that the observed addition is a kinetically controlled reaction.

The arylbis(phenylethynyl)phosphanes 1a,b (aryl = mesityl, 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl) react with the frustrated P/B Lewis pair (P/B FLP) mes2PCH2CH2B(C6F5)2 (4) to give mixtures of three products; the major products, the phosphole systems 2a,b, are formed by a sequence of 1,1-carboboration reactions. One of the minor compounds (6a,b) is formed by 1,1-carboboration followed by internal 1,2-FLP addition

Hydroboration of dimesitylvinylphosphane with bis[3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borane [HB(Fxyl)2] gave the intramolecular ethylene‐bridged P/B frustratedLewispair (FLP) Mes2PCH2CH2B(Fxyl)2.
