developed. With this protocol, a variety of biaryls and alkenyl phenols were obtained in good to high yields under mild conditions. The reaction tolerates various functionalities and is applicable to the derivatization of pharmaceuticals and natural products. The synthetic utility of the method was demonstrated by the short synthesis of multi‐substituted triphenylenes and three bioactive natural products
phenanthrene-substituted aryl triflates proceeded regioselectively. The findings inspired us to develop a rapid and efficientsynthesis of polybenzoacene derivatives. This study not only allows the transformation of phenyl triflates but also discloses a new retrosynthetic strategy towards fused polyaromatics, especially polybenzoacenes.
The asymmetric coupling of various phenol or aniline derivatives with bulky aryllead triacetates was thoroughly investigated using optically active amines, including strychnine and brucine. We found that conformationally restricted tertiary amines, as well as lithium aryloxides and molecular sieves, are essential for accelerating the rate of phenol coupling. Consequently, the reaction can be carried
