A new and intriguing methodology to access various O‐difluoromethylation oxime compounds from ClCF2H, TBN and indoles is developed under mild reaction conditions. This strategy can suppress N‐difluoromethylation of indoles successfully, in which there are two different active species (:CF2 and ·NO) while indoles are unprotected, featuring simple operation and radical involvement.

The reaction of 2‐fluoro‐2‐nitrostyrenes with various indoles was investigated. We found that the reaction proceeds as a Michael addition in a highly regioselective manner to form 3‐(1‐aryl‐2‐fluoro‐2‐nitroethyl)‐1H‐indoles. Thus, a green and catalyst‐free synthesis of these compounds was developed using water as a reaction medium. The high effectiveness of this approach was demonstrated through the

A new procedure for preparation of a previously unknown class of monofluorinated 3‐vinyl indoles is reported. This strategy is based on a one‐pot two‐step process involving a preliminary uncatalyzed Michael addition of β‐fluoro‐β‐nitrostyrenes to indoles followed by a base‐induced elimination of nitrous acid. The unique role of fluorine for realization of this process was demonstrated.
