Mild Debenzylation of Aryl
Benzyl Ether with BCl3 in the Presence of Pentamethylbenzene
as a Non-Lewis-Basic Cation Scavenger
摘要:
Scope and limitations of the debenzylation conditions for aryl benzyl ether, which was developed during our synthetic studies on yatakemycin, were investigated. The chemoselective debenzylation proceeds at low temperature with a combination of BCl(3) and pentamethylbenzene as a cation scavenger in the presence of various functional groups.
new, convenient, and selective 4-dimethylaminopyridine-catalyzed trifluoroacetylation of anilines with ethyl trifluoroacetate is described. Anilines, containing other functional groups, e.g. alcohols, phenols, hindered secondary amines, and secondary anilines, are also selectively trifluoroacetylated in high yields under these newly developed conditions.
The invention relates to a method of detecting and/or assaying nucleoside hydrolases or nucleoside phosphorylases using a chromogenic substrate. Preferred chromogenic substrates have formula (I) where X is OH, or H, and Y is the residue of Y—OH where Y—OH is a chromophore or a compound readily converted to a chromophore and the substrates are hydrolysed by the nucleoside hydrolase to yield ribose or 2-deoxyribose plus Y—OH. Alternatively those substrates may be phosphorylysed by nucleoside phosphorylase to yield ribose-1-phosphate plus Y—OH. The methods may be used to detect and/or assay parasites in biological samples.

Acyloxytriphenylphosphonium salts 1 prepared in situ react with a variety of aminophenols to give the corresponding amides in excellent yields. At −25° N-acylated products are formed exclusively, whereas at 0° some O-acylated products are observed. 1 is also a convenient trifluoroacetylating reagent.
