  通过将1-烷氧基-4-烯丙氧基苯与AD-mix-β进行Sharpless不对称二羟基化反应，制备了一系列（S）-3-（4-烷氧基苯氧基）丙烷-1,2-二醇，对映体过量86-92％混合物。对映体过量97-99％的R对映异构体和外消旋样品是通过对位取代的酚钠与（R）和rac反应制得的-3-氯丙烷-1，2-二醇。通过热显微镜检查了所产生的具有各种长度的烃取代基的甘油芳基醚的同系物系列中外消旋物和水垢物的相行为。外消旋和垢二元醇的同系物系列的较高级成员在加热对映相转变为近晶液晶相时经历。
