By addition of phenylarsino-acetic acid and β-n-butylarsino- and β-phenylarsino-propionic acid, respectively, to aldehydes and ketones, followed by an intramolecular condensation reaction, 1.3-oxarsolan-5-ones and 1,3-oxarsenan-6-ones, respectively, are formed. The structures of the compounds are established by investigating their IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra.
