2-Substituted-1,3-propylidenediphosphonates of formula (I), where A, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are defined in claim 1, are therapeutically active compounds, namely for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. They can be prepared by reacting phosphonating agents with 1,3- dibromopropanes or ditosylates of 1,3-propanediols substituted in position 2. ##STR1## .
The Michaelis–Becker Reaction in Phosphonium and Imidazolium Ionic Liquids

The Michaelis–Beckerreaction was performed in imidazolium ionic liquids using sodium hydroxide as base or sodium dialkylphosphites with good yield and selectivities. The analogous reaction performed in phosphonium ionic liquids resulted in decomposition to phosphine oxides.
HYPERVALENT IODINE IN SYNTHESIS. 49. A NEW EFFECTIVE SYNTHESIS OF Se-PHENYLO,O-DIALKYL PHOSPHOROSELENOATES WITH POLYMER-SUPPORTED PHENYLIODINE DIACETATE

Se-phenyl O,O-dialkyl phosphoroselenoates have been prepared by the one-pot reaction of sodium O,O-dialkyl phosphorates, diphenyl diselenide, and polymer-supported phenyliodine diacetate (PPID).

Reactions of 6-iodogalactosides with either methyl or isopropyl diphenyl phosphite lead to diphenylphosphoryl derivatives; these can be converted by ester exchange into dibenzylphosphoryl derivatives, which are convenient precursors of carbohydrate phosphonic acids.
Hypervalent Iodine in Synthesis XXVII. Alkynylphenyliodonium Tosylates as Alkynylating Reagents: Direct Conversion of Alkynylphenyliodonium Tosylates to Dialkyl Alkynylphosphonates with Sodium Dialkylphosphonates
