Disclosed herein are novel multivalent metal-modified salicylic acid resins useful as color-developing agents for pressure-sensitive copying paper. They can each be produced by causing a salicylic acid ester and a styrene derivative to undergo a Friedel-Crafts reaction in the presence of a strong acid catalyst, hydrolyzing the resulting salicylic acid ester resin, and then reacting the thus-obtained salicylic acid resin with a multivalent metal salt.

An aromatic polycarbonate resin composition for molding, comprising (a) an aromatic polycarbonate resin, (a) carbon fibers sized with an aromatic polycarbonate resin, and (c) an organic compound having at least two oxazoline rings per molecule is dislosed. The composition has excellent extrusion workability, mold deposit-preventing property and mechanical strength, and can be used as a molding material in the field of precision machines such as cameras, VTR's and facsimiles.

A polycarbonate resin composition for radiation sterilization, comprising an aromatic polycarbonate resin having structural units derived from a halogenated bisphenol, and a polyalkylene compound selected from poly(alkylene glycol), its ether, silyl ether or ester. Molded articles produced from the composition do not substantially undergo yellowing when exposed to radiation in air or under substantially oxygen-free atmosphere, and can be advantageously employed in medical appliances.
A glass-reinforced polycarbonate resin composition comprising an aromatic polycarbonate resin (a) and, blended therewith, 5 to 60% by weight based on the weight of the compsoition of a glass reinforcement (b) which has been treated with an acid.
The composition has excellent dimensional stability, mechanical strength, heat resistance and electrical characteristics, and is therefore used in industrial fields of cameras, VTR's, facsimiles and the like.
