(EN) Tests indicate that topical application of a composition comprising a deodorizing amount of one or more precursor mimics to the characteristic axillary odor 3-methyl-2-hexenoic acid to a location of a warm-blooded animal can significantly inhibit and/or attenuate the intensity of body odors, such as those formed in the axillary region. Disclosed are methods for suppressing body odors by applying a deodorizing amount of one or more of the precursor mimics to such body odors, and deodorant compositions that comprise an effective amount of at least one of these mimics. Esterification of Boc-Alanine and Boc-Aspartic acids by alcohols CnH2n+1OH and dio1s HO(CH2)nOH with imnobilized papain (XAD-7 or Sepharose) is discussed. Great improvement is obtained for the esterification of Boc-Ala-OH if papain is entrapped in XAD-7. For example no esterification is observed with 1-decanol if free papain is used whereas a 55% yield is obtained with papain immobilized on XAD-7.
