1, 8‐naphthyridine‐3‐carboxylic acid analogs were synthesized and found to possess potential 5‐HT3 receptor antagonism as well as antidepressant‐like activity. A dual-model and on–off fluorescent Al3+/Cu2+-chemosensor and the detection of F−/Al3+ with ‘in situ’ prepared Al3+/Cu2+ complexes

A multifunctional fluorescent chemosensor for Al3+ and Cu2+ has been developed, which displays a dual-model and onâoff fluorescence response upon addition of Al3+ and Cu2+ respectively. The fluorescence signals of the chemosensor can be restored with Fâ and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) disodium for Al3+ and Cu2+, showing that the binding of the chemosensor and Al3+/Cu2+ is chemically reversible. The âin situâ prepared Al3+ complex (1·Al) showed high selectivity toward Fâ, which can be applied to distinguish Fâ from Clâ, Brâ and Iâ. Moreover, the fluorescence emission intensity of the âin situâ prepared Cu2+ complex (1·Cu) is increased with the addition of Al3+, demonstrating that 1·Cu could be a good offâon Al3+ sensor candidate.

The title compound, C(12)H(8)N(4), was obtained by thermal treatment of 3-cyanopyridine in the presence of magnesium phthalocyanine as catalyst. The X-ray structure analysis, in direct contrast to molecular orbital calculations corresponding to the gas phase, shows the molecule to be non-planar in the solid state, with an interplanar angle between the pyridine and 1,3,8-triazanaphthalene rings of 13
