Photoexcited arylketones catalyze the direct chlorination of C(sp3)–H groups by N- chlorosuccinimide. Acetophenone is the most effective catalyst for functionalization of unactivated C–H groups while benzophenone provides better yields for benzylic C–H functionalization.
