Self-immolative polymers degrade by an end-to-end depolymerisation mechanism in response to the cleavage of a stabilizing end-cap from the polymer terminus. Examples include homopolymers, mixed polymers including block copolymers, suitable for a variety of applications. A polyglyoxylate can be end-capped or capped with a linker as in a block copolymer.
The present invention relates to a dental composition comprising a specific polymerizable compound and a polymerization initiator system. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the specific polymerizable compound as such and its use in a dental composition. The specific polymerizable compound of the present invention has an N-allyl (meth)acrylamide group, which nitrogen atom is substituted with an alkyl or alkenyl group optionally substituted by a group selected from a hydroxyl group, a C1-4 alkoxy group, a tertiary amino group and a carboxyl group, wherein 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the main chain of the alkyl or alkenyl group may independently from each other be replaced by a heteroatom selected from an oxygen atom and a sulfur atom.

There is described a polymeric based complex comprising at least one comonomer, a saccharide residue and at least one lipid metabolite suitable for retaining cellular viability. A method of administering one or more lipid metabolites to a cell to maintain the cellular viability of the cell is also described.
The present invention is directed to new and improved packaging systems for storing cationic ophthalmic devices such as cationic contact lenses and to methods for packaging such cationic ophthalmic devices with solutions to improve the comfort of the lenses during wear. In particular, the present invention is directed to a packaging system for storing a cationic ophthalmic device in a solution comprising an effective amount of an anionic polymer. Such solutions are retained on the surface of an unused lens for extended periods of time, resulting in surface modification that persists in the eye, which may provide significant improvement in the wetting properties of fresh lenses used for the first time and, moreover, even several hours after lens insertion, preventing dryness and improving lubricity.
