Some ruthenium(II) chiral Schiff base complexes of the composition [RuL(PPh 3 ) (H 2 () 2 ] (1–3), where L = chiral Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde and L-amino acids, namely L-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine and L-methionine, have been synthesized. The interaction of the complexes with π-acceptor ligands such as 2,2′-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline gives substituted mixed-ligand complexes. The
