    A fragrance composition having high fragrance properties such as fragrance diffusivity and long-lasting property obtained without changing the fragrance note of the fragrance composition which is useful in various fragrance providing products such as cosmetics, toiletry products, bath compositions and pharmaceuticals having satisfactory fragrance properties such as fragrance diffusivity and long-lasting property. The fragrance composition contains 0.1 to 90 % by weight of a glyceryl ether derivative represented by the following general formula (I), such as 2 -ethylhexyloxypropanediol as a fixative or fragrance note-improving agent. The fragrance providing product contains 0.01 to 50 % by weight of the fragrance composition in the final product composition. General formula (I) is: 1 wherein R 1 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms which may have a branched chain or an aromatic hydrocarbon group, which may have a substituent.

    An aluminum compounds represented by the following general formula (1): Al(R1—SO3)1(R2)m(R3)n   (1) wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, R2 is a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, an aliphatic hydrocarbonoxy group which may be substituted, or a halogen atom, R3 is an aromatic hydrocarbonoxy group which may be substituted, and 1, m and n are independently a number of 0 to 3, with the proviso that 1+m+n equals 3, and 1 is not 0, an acid catalyst comprising the aluminum compound, and a process for producing an ester, acetal, ketal, ether or alkyl glycoside making use of the catalyst. The catalyst is suitable for use in a variety of acid-catalyzed reactions of alcohols, i.e., reactions with carbonyl compounds, such as esterification, transesterification, acetalization and ketalization, etherification, ring-opening reactions of epoxy compounds, etc. in addition to the above-described respective reactions, is not deactivated by alcoholysis, has a sufficient activity, can easily control a reaction catalyzed thereby and scarcely causes side reactions. Consequently, the use of the catalyst permits the production of the intended product at a high yield from starting materials used in an almost equimolar proportion.

    The present invention pertains to a method for controlling the foaming of a waterborne composition or in an industrial process utilizing a waterborne composition by the incorporation of a foam controlling agent in an amount effective for controlling foam. The method comprises utilizing as the foam controlling agent an alkyl glycidyl ether-capped diamine compound of the formula: L is a linker group comprising a linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl group having from 2 to about 6 carbon atoms or an alkyl ether group having from about 4 to about 8 carbon atoms. R is independently selected from hydrogen or -CH2CHOHCH2OR'. R' is an alkyl group having from about 4 to about 22 carbon atoms. The compound generates an initial foam height at least 30% less than a 0.1 wt% aqueous solution of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (DOSS), when added at 0.1 wt% to the aqueous DOSS solution. The present invention also pertains to an aqueous composition comprising the foam controlling agent.
