Nanocrystallinecopperoxide was found to be an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the N-arylation of heterocycles with activatedchloro- and fluoroarenesusing potassium carbonate as base. N-Arylated products were isolated in good to excellent yields. The catalyst can be used for five cycles with almost consistent activity.

A novel and mild method for the synthesis of fused polycyclic indoles of [1,2-a]indol-10-imines via a Cu(OTf)2-catalyzed the intramolecular cyclization of N-(2-cyanophenyl)indoles in the presence of diaryliodonium salts has been developed.
