A simple and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of α-aminonitriles by a one-pot three-component condensation of aldehydes, amines, and trimethylsilyl cyanide in the presence of a catalytic amount of silicasulfuricacid at room temperature. The silicasulfuricacid is reusable and could be applied in subsequent reactions with comparable activity.

A simple and general method has been developed for the synthesis of α-aminonitriles by a one-pot three-component condensation of aldehydes or ketones, amines and potassium cyanide in THF in presence of a catalytic amount of indium trichloride.
In this study, the synthesis of some α-amino nitriles is reported. The compounds were prepared by the nucleophilicaddition reaction of aldehydes and amines with TMSCN in the presence of a catalytic amount of H 14 [NaP 5 W 30 O 110 ], Preyssler's heteropoly acid, in excellent yields. The catalyst can be recovered and reused in subsequent reactions.
