  Polyneuridine aldehyde is a key intermediate in the biosynthetic routes to the family of monoterpene indole alkaloids. The molecule is the first biosynthetic member of the sarpagan-type alkaloids and is an entry to the ajmalan-type and alstophyllan-type alkaloids.
